Pita Pit Utilizes Hands-On Training

SALINE, Mich., July 27, 2015 – Nelson Lang, founder of Pita Pit, sought to provide a healthier alternative to the usual fast food fare when they opened the first Pita Pit in Kingston, Ontario in 1995. Twenty years later, Pita Pit now has 240 operating franchised outlets with 12 of them being corporate owned. The Pita Pit serves a soft pita sandwich filled with customers’ choice of grilled meat, vegetable toppings and zesty sauces. Most stores are between 1200 and 1500 square feet, with eat-in, carry-out and delivery options. Pita Pit has been franchising since 1999 and has a $192,550-318,679 investment range with $75,000 as minimum capital required.

How does Pita Pit train its franchisees?
Pita Pit’s initial training takes place at their USA headquarters in Idaho for the duration of 10 days, followed by 5-7 days of training at the franchisee’s new location. While training at their new location, the new franchisee is usually accompanied by a successful ex-franchisee that now serves as a mentor. The ten days of franchisee training provides owners with instruction on management, marketing, finances, customer service and employee training. Lang explains, “(Our training) used to be more classroom based, now 75% of training is in a store working; rolling sandwiches, getting to know the customer and understanding the business.”

Pita Pit USA invests heavily in training, monitoring and feedback to their franchisee partners. Lang believes franchisee training is of the highest importance, “We feel, and everybody in the industry feels, if we can get them (franchisees) past those first couple of years they will be successful.” To learn more about Pita Pit USA, visit www.pitapitUSA.com.
